We spent all week, up until today, down in the Gold Coast. It was strange to be down there, I kind of felt like it was a vacation -- all except for the chaos that is apparent when you are in a hospital with your wife for the birth of your first child. Chicago is a big city, and that neck of the woods isn't a good pH test for what the city is really like.
After getting home today, we remembered what it is like to not be in ultra-rich town. There were ten (yes, 10) cop cars in front of the building across the street at 1137 Pratt. My stretch of Pratt is fantastic, not pretentious but nice, but this building and the old RP hotel seem to leak crime and straight craziness. Did I mention 10 cop cars?
I also noticed a flyer on our fence from the community beat team, so I will pass this info on in hopes of pushing our neighborhood from security level orange back down to yellow.
